Cobain Love

Sounds odd, but they both look genuinely happy (more so him).

Disappointment

I got an internship with the State Dept. at the U.S. embassy in Warsaw...but I can't take it, I'm too broke to even pay for the plane back to Poland. What's ridiculous is they practically begged me to take it...when are things going to look up? God, tell me when?

Rita Levi Montalcini

Several days ago Italian Nobel Prize winner Rita Levi Montalcini, a respectable and well known neurologist , turned 100. This woman has lived such an inspiring and fulfilling life. Of Jewish decent, Montalcini's family was persecuted under Mussolini's rule, she was once quoted "I should thank Mussolini for having declared me to be of an inferior race. This led me to the joy of working, no longer, unfortunately, in university institutes but in a bedroom." Look her up, you'll like what you see...

Dream Home!

New wedding idea...

New idea for a ceremony/reception venue, the old coast guard station on Peanut Island. It's just my style. It might be hard to pull off, but it's been done before...the weather would have to be next-to-perfect and you would have to transport everyone and everything there by boat.

Ring Possibilities

I like these rings, the sparrow ring is in 14k gold and is $370, respectively the lace ring is $470 in 14k gold as well. Unfortunately the nest ring is gold plated, when I asked for the estimated price in solid gold it came out way above our budget :(. Nest from: http://www.alexmonroe.com/index.php?cPath=49_51

Bride with a cardigan!

Lemons

I'm not a fan of the base of this centerpiece, or even the place setting, but the lemons are a really nice touch.

A Tax Day Bitch

In celebration of 'Tax Day USA', I give you Leona Helmsley, 'the Queen of Mean' who evaded her taxes in 1992. Helmsley once said: "We don't pay taxes. Only the little people pay taxes." Photo courtesy of Huffposters.

Olomouc

Some photos I took around the city mostly using my sunglasses as a filter. They are in no particular order. Yes, I'm bored.

Room

I hate that I'm always posting about things, wants, desires. But I've lived so long without a place of my own. It's been 5 years, 3 suitcases, a small box, and now for 8 months living off of $400 a month, no car, no oven, no washing machine, no dryer, unsafe tap water, a broken heater, no internet while in Poland, and little access to fresh foods...and I haven't bought a single piece of clothing in 7 months, all the while watching my student loan interest compound itself. It's been lonely man and a lot like rehab, but I ain't complaining, it wasn't Africa or Southeast Asia...just saying. I brought this mess upon myself, but I don't regret it. This is the kind of experience you need to live a simpler and happier life, more people should do it.

Good Blog

This girl and her boyfriend do what we do, only a lot more efficiently:

Another cool guy

Today the people who invent stuff look like Craig and Johnny or whatever their names are from YouTube, but in the 1800s inventors strolled about looking like this, chucking orphans into the River Thames for fun.

My camping inspiration

So I came across these bags a couple of weeks ago and Maciek and I thought they were great for his Mexico trip this fall. Even better than the bags, are the actual photos of the Jansport founders on the site. Unfortunately I can't post them but check out the album and their products. They are my camping trip inspiration, what do you think?

This guy is cool

I've never seen a man so cool that you can overlook the fact that he is riding a girl bike. He looks like he could pull a gun out of that jacket while still smoking and maintaining balance. How do some people do it? Photo found on http://papercupdesign.blogspot.com/.

Dream Home

So an architect built this for his family as a summer getaway, but I think it would make a great permanent residence for me.

This is the dress.

This is the dress I actually wanted, the berry detailing is gorgeous, but my size is out of stock, plus I can't buy now anyhow.
